2019 Dates, Costs, Discounts, and Incentives

Enter a land of beauty, nature, and tantalizing adventure as you join us in the Kingdom of Independence! Let our staff knights be your guide as we head out on the quest for action and adventure! Watch out for the dragons!

At Camp Independence, Cub Scouts and their parents will stay in canvas wall tents on platforms with cots and eat in our full-service dining hall.  Camp Independence provides a safe and fun way to experience the great outdoors, even if your son - or you - have never gone camping before.  Create memories that will last a lifetime!

Multiple camp sessions are offered throughout the summer. We're sure to have an opportunity that fits your family's schedule perfectly. Even if your den or pack is not coming to camp or you can't come at the same time, you are still welcome to join us at Camp Independence. Join us for your own Independence adventure!

Rookie Camp

Rookie Camp is a one-night Camp Independence experience which is perfect for younger Scouts and others who have never been to summer camp before.

Participants will have the opportunity to tour Camp Independence, meet the camp staff, participate in a few favorite camp activities like BB shooting and archery, have a meal in the camp dining hall, and enjoy a classic Camp Independence campfire!

Cub Scout Resident Camp

Aimed at Wolves and Bears, Cub Scout Resident Camp is a three-night camp focused on Wolf and Bear advancement along with fun, age-appropriate activities. During their time in camp, Cub Scouts will have the opportunity to shoot BB guns and archery, go swimming and boating. learn about nature and our country, go fishing, and do much, much more! 

As Scouts participate in camp programs, they will work on various Wolf and Bear Adventure loop requirements.

Webelos Resident Camp

These three-night camping experiences are geared toward Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts. The program takes a step up from the Cub Scout Resident Camp program. Webelos Scouts will have the opportunity to kayak, shoot pellet guns, ride BMX bikes, and climb Camp Independence's verticle wall.  

A four-night Webelos option is being offered in conjunction with two of the summer's Pack Camp sessions. See below for more information.

As Scouts participate in camp programs, they will work on various Webelos and Arrow of Light Adventure pin requirements.

Pack Camp

Perfect for families with multiple Scouts, Pack Camp provides a program for all age groups in the pack at the same time. Age groups will be divided up to receive age-specific programs and activities while at camp. Some sessions include an option for Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts to come a day early for extra Webelos focus programs such as a hike to one of Heritage Reservation's two Scouts BSA resident camps - Camp Liberty or Camp Freedom.

A two-night experience for the entire family. The program will not be focused on Scout advancement but on having fun at camp together.

Registration Timeline

Now until January 31, 2019 Unit “Save a Space” Deposit - $100 per Pack
  • Non-refundable unit deposit to hold space.
  • Deposit will be applied to overall fees due and cannot be “rolled” to future years.
February 1 to April 1, 2019 Individual Deposits - $5 per camper
  • Unit “Save a Space” Deposits previously paid will be applied toward individual deposits due.
  • Add camper names and required information.*
By April 1, 2019 Pay in full by April 1 to receive lowest (Early Bird) camp price.
April 2 to June 1, 2019 Pay in full by June 1 to receive regular camp price.
After June 1, 2019 Pay in full after June 1 and receive the third (Late) camp price

Discounts and Incentives

  • New - Sibling Discount - 15% off second and subsequent youth Scout camp fees. (Applies across different LHC resident camps - Boy Scout, Cub Scout, and Webelos sessions. Discount applied to second/later session)
  • Low Rate Lock-In - Scouts joining after March 1 and campership recipients are locked into the lowest rate for camp.
  • Free Adults - Earn free adult attendees based on the number of Scouts who attend the same camp session:
    • 6-11 Scouts = 1 Free Adult
    • 12-17 Scouts = 2 Free Adults
    • 18-23 Scouts = 3 Free Adults
    • 24-29 Scouts = 4 Free Adults
    • 30-35 Scouts = 5 Free Adults
    • Additional free adult at 36, 42, 48,54 Scouts etc.
  • Second Session Discount - 25% discount off camp fees for a second session. Applies to youth or adult camp fees at a Laurel Highlands Council resident Camp. (Day Camp, NYLT, and National High Adventure Base participation does not quality).
  • Unit Recruiting Discount - Recruit a unit bringing at least 10 youth that has never been to Heritage Reservation or Camp Seph Mack and receive a $40 discount for each youth attendee in your unit (not to exceed the number of youth attendees in the other unit).
  • Camp Staff Referral - Refer a new camp staff member who gets hired and works all summer to receive $100 in Camp Trading Post credit.
  • Camperships - Financial assistance is available for Laurel Highlands Council Scouts with financial need to attend an LHC summer resident camp program. Applications due March 1.
  • Camp Keepsake - All campers will receive a camp specific keepsake.

  • No one does theme quite like Camp Independence. Join us as we quest through the Kingdom of Independence!
  • New program areas including Scoutcraft, Packtivities, and Outdoor Adventure offer exciting and engaging ways to get your Cub Scouts involved and excited about being at camp.
  • Every Scout and adult who attend camp will receive a commemorative Camp Independence map bandana.
  • New Camp Independence Courage Conquest "Pebble Patch" program

Recognition Necklaces

Every Cub Scout coming through our gate receives a Camp Independence recognition lanyard. As they quest through the Kingdom of Independence throughout their stay, they'll receive color-coded beads for their achievements. From passing a swimmer’s test to catching a fish, Cubs can earn beads for LOTS of things - providing immediate recognition for doing their best.
