Camp Independence

Camp Independence is all about every Cub Scout having the best summer camp experience possible!

Camp Independence offers four different overnight camping opportunities. At Camp Independence, Cub Scouts and their parents will stay in canvas wall tents on platforms with cots and eat in our full-service dining hall.  Camp Independence provides a safe and fun way to experience the great outdoors, even if your son - or you - have never gone camping before.  Create memories that will last a lifetime!

Get the 2018 Heritage Reservation Guidebook and other camp forms and resources by going to the Summer Camp Resources page.

Cabin Camping Option Now Available

Although spending the evening around the campfire and sleeping in a tent is the hallmark of Scout camping, we know not all families that want to attend Camp Independence may be ready or comfortable with that yet.  To provide an option for those families and due to popular demand, a limited number of cabin semi-private room and open bunk room spaces have been opened in Heritage Reservation's Potomac Homes. Cabin space reservation is first come, first served.

The Potomac Homes at Heritage Reservation are split-level Ryan Homes. Each has a downstairs bunk room holding up to 12 people with a full bathroom.  Upstairs are three semi-private rooms holding between 2 and 4 people, a full bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and living room.

Rookie Camp

Rookie Camp is a one-night Camp Independence experience which is perfect for new Lions, Tigers, and other new Scouts who have never been to summer camp before.

Participants will have the opportunity to tour Camp Independence, meet the camp staff, participate in a few favorite camp activities like BB shooting and archery, have a meal in the camp dining hall, and enjoy a classic Camp Independence campfire!

Pack Camp

New for 2018, Pack Camp provides a program for all age groups in the Pack all at the same time. Pack Camp is perfect for families with multiple Scouts.

The program at Pack camp will depend on overall attendance. If enough Scouts register, groups will be divided by age so Scouts can receive age-appropriate programs as they travel about camp.  If there are not enough Scouts to divide up, Packs will remain together and all get to participate in the fun together, however, some of the Webelos only activities will not be offered.
