Camp Liberty

In a special meeting held on May 21, 2020, the Board of the Laurel Highlands Council voted to suspend summer resident camping programs and volunteer led Cub Scout Day Camp programs for the 2020 season. The board also voted to authorize a virtual Cub Scout and Scouts, BSA program to be developed, for family camping at council facilities in June, for STEM Adventure Day Camp at Camp Guyasuta to continue operation, for a Cub Scout Day Camp program at Camp Guyasuta later in the summer, and for other organized programs to be developed once Pennsylvania guidance allows. As a week-long overnight program, NYLT will be cancelled for 2020.

Summer Camp FAQ

    2021 Summer Camp

Located on a peninsual jutting out into Lake Courage, Camp Liberty is Heritage Reservation's Scouts BSA resident camp where the patrol method truly comes alive!  Patrols work together to cook all of their own meals in their campsite using food picked up from the camp commissary.  Nothing brings patrols together and developes leadership like having to figure out how to get a group to feed themselves all week.  Although it may seem to be a lot of work, most units report having more down time to relax and work on other things not being confined by the schedule of a dining hall. Units who attend Camp Liberty never want to go anywhere else!
